Online Game of the Week ? Flying Candy ? GamingAngels

Yes, the name drew me right to this week?s OGOTW. I mean, who?s not attracted to Flying Candy? This bubble popping highly addicting game had me at the title screen where the little eyed spherical candies follow the pointer with their eyes wherever it goes. The object of the game is to click (once) to explode your bubble, causing a chain reaction and pop as many bubbles as possible on the screen, then move the mouse pointer to collect the candies that fall out. The candies can be used to buy bonuses that expand the bubble pop radius, or collect more candies. The little ?Yeah!? that comes from the candies when a level is passed is a great heart warmer, too. Very user-friendly. Enjoy!

La Festival de Cannes

Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo star in Michel Hazanavicius' The Artist, a silent movie about a silent film star who's hitting his artistic peak just as the film industry starts using sound.

John Powers, Fresh Air's critic-at-large and the movie critic for Vogue, returns from this year's Cannes Film Festival to share his thoughts on the winners, the losers and the films that may make a big box-office splash. He also explains to Fresh Air's Terry Gross why this year's Cannes was somewhat of a paradox for him.

"Most people care less about movies than they ever have," he says. "Yet all the things that are sort of awards-based or festival-based get more coverage than ever. For example, the Oscars get lower ratings and Oscar winners get less of a bounce from the Oscars than ever before, [but] there's relentless coverage of the Oscars that goes on for months and months and months. What's happening at Cannes is the same kind of thing. The festival is there. But the amount of coverage that comes out of it is 10 times greater than it was 10 years ago."

Here, an edited overview of Powers' thoughts on the films that won some of the festival's major awards, including the Palme D'Or, as well as some of his other favorites from the festival:

Brad Pitt and Laramie Eppler star in Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, which won the festival's Palme d'Or prize.

Merie Wallace/Fox Searchlight Pictures

Brad Pitt and Laramie Eppler star in Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, which won the festival's Palme d'Or prize.

?Tree of Life, directed by Terrence Malick ? "Once it started, you felt the audience kind of divide. Some people really couldn't stand it and other people found it transformative. It's a story about a young boy, who grows up to be Sean Penn later, growing up in '50s Texas. His parents are played by Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain. About 90 minutes of the movie is the story of this kid's life, growing up during his young years in Texas. What makes the film strange is it's surrounded by two other things. On the one thing, there's a kind of 2001-ish story of the creation of the world, which I think is designed to parallel the creation of this one person's life. But that comes complete with the creation of the planet and with dinosaurs and all the rest which is kind of odd for a film about Texas in the 1950s. And then the film builds to another non-narrative thing ? a dreamy, searcher New Age sequence ? where Sean Penn, dressed in a business suit, walks across Death Valley, and maybe or maybe not ? it's not clear from the film, exactly ? winds up in Heaven, where he ends up meeting all of the people he'd known before. So what you have is a rather beautiful, poetic and normal story of a family in Texas surrounded by stuff that some people thought visionary and other people thought kitsch." (Winner: Palme d'Or)

?Footnote, directed by Joseph Cedars ? "It's a marvelous comedy. The father in the story is a vintage old-school scholar who spends all of his time looking closely at the text of the Talmud and all its variations. His son is also a Talmudic scholar but more worldly, more fun and knows how to work in the political world better. And the problem is, because they're working in the same field, they're jealous of each other for different reasons. And gradually it's about there's an award that's going to be given to one of them and they have to figure out how to deal with [the other one's potential] success and what's the correct way to deal with the success of somebody you're supposed to love but who you also kind of resent. It's an extremely funny, beautifully observed movie." (Winner: Best Screenplay)

Le Festival de Cannes

The Turkish film One Upon a Time in Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan shared this year's Grand Prix award.

?Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan ? "I would have chosen [this] as the best film of the festival. ... This is an observational 160 minute film about a group of cops, prosecutors and doctors looking for a body in the Anatolian countryside at night. More or less what you see are these five or six guys going through the night, you learn about their personalities, you watch them stop in a village, you see them bicker, you see them make jokes, you see them give their philosophy of life. In lots of ways, it's procedural in a way of something like The Wire, where you're watching people in action but the characters all gradually reveal themselves to be incredibly vivid. ... By the end of the film, you have a portrait of the Anatolia region in Turkey where you can't ever tell what's really true. By the end of the movie, you've been told what you think is the truth but there are so many things wrong with how it's been presented, that you're not sure it's really true." (Co-winner: Grand Prix. The other winner of the Grand Prix was The Kid with a Bicycle, directed by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.)

?Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn ? "It's very violent. The big trademark shot of this comes when the hero, played by Ryan Gosling, in the Steve McQueen/Clint Eastwood role, smashes peoples' skulls and they crack like an eggshell. ... It's an action film that's almost pure style. ... Refn is Tarentino's Tarentino. He's seen the same exploitation movies, the same Hong Kong films and all the rest and he boils everything down to almost pure style. There's almost no emotion in it." (Winner: Best Director)

La Festival al de Cannes

Kirsten Dunst won the Best Actress prize for her role in Lars Von Trier's Melancholia.

?Melancholia, directed by Lars Von Trier ? "[It's] about two things. One, a huge planet called Melancholia that is racing towards the Earth and is probably going to destroy it. Side by side with it, you're getting the story of a family, one played by Kirsten Dunst, who won Best Actress in the festival, and is just great in Melancholia, as the depressive, melancholic sister whose smile is so radiant you just love her, and then her sadness is so terrible, it annihilates the world. ... The film is both a cosmic and psychological portrait of destruction and destructiveness and darkness." (Winner: Best Actress, Kirsten Dunst)

?The Artist, directed by Michael Hazanavicius ? "It is both a silent film shot in the style of an old silent film, with the timing and rhythm of a silent film but it's about a silent film star played by Jean Dujardin who's a great heroic figure but the problem is, he's a great silent film star just at the moment when [the film industry] is going to sound. So he's having to deal with that issue. ... It works like wonders. A very smart friend of mine went in and said 'I tried hard to resist it but it's irresistible.' Everyone thought this was going to be a gimmick idea or a pastiche and yet it plays like gangbusters and got the biggest applause out of any film at the festival." (Winner: Best Actor, Jean Dujardin)

Opulence Studios/La Festival al de Cannes

John Powers calls Paolo Sorrentino's This Must Be the Place, starring Sean Penn, the "craziest" movie he saw at the festival.

?This Must Be The Place, directed by Paolo Sorrentino ? "This may be one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. It stars Sean Penn as a 50-year-old faded and retired Goth rocker living in Ireland. He looks like Robert Smith from The Cure. He wears black leather, he wears lipsticks and all the rest. When his father dies, he flies back to America and learns that his father had a small vendetta against a guy who was his guard at Auschwitz. So dressed as a 50-year-old Goth rocker, Sean Penn enters a cross-country roadtrip to track down a Holocaust criminal. It's a Holocaust road movie which is also [Penn's character's] coming of age story because the film is how he comes of age at age 50. In addition to all of this, it's a comedy."

?This Is Not A Film, directed by Jafar Panahi ? "Panahi is probably the most famous Iranian director over the past 10 years. He [recently] got himself in trouble with the government. He was identified as being a threat to national security. Various judges declared that he should go to prison for six years and he was banned from filmmaking for 20 years. While he appeals that decision, he's living under house arrest but not allowed to make films. So what he's done is he's had a friend come over and they shoot a film inside his apartment where he's under house arrest and he talks to the camera about his situation, you hear his conversation with his lawyers about what the government's going to do to him. ... Gradually you see what's happening with his life and what's going on with his situation politically, and the insistent point they keep making is: They're not actually making a film. The film is called This Is Not A Film because if he is actually making a film, he's violated the rules under which he's living under which case he could perhaps go to prison for life."

On director Lars Von Trier's statements about Hitler and Nazis during Cannes: "He always says provocative things. One year, he called Roman Polanski a dwarf when Polanski's jury didn't give him the top prize. In this case, what happened was, he got a thought that started off as a perfectly reasonable thought and then got going ? almost like someone with Tourette's who can't stop himself from going. I don't think he was really trying to say the most shocking stuff, but somehow as the audience gets more shocked, he likes doing it more and more, so eventually he pushed on. ... The press corps were simultaneously aghast and delighted because when someone says stuff like this at Cannes, you know you get a front page story rather than an arts page story. So there's actually more glamour and glory for the journalists."

Kennedy Public School Palam Colony Delhi

?Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country? was the most mind blowing speech delivered by an American president. John F Kennedy is famous not only for his stirring dialogue but also for his unfortunate and tragic death. Named after the famous US president, Kennedy Public school is the pride of Palam Colony. A Day school runs by Mrs. Kamleremove. This school is affiliated to the CBSE Pattern of education. The school offers education for children till class X. Affiliated to the CBSE Pattern of education, the medium of instruction imparted by the school is English.

A Co-educational school, functioning in the otherwise quiet area of Palam, Kennedy Public School, has much to offer in terms of providing quality education to its students. The infrastructure of the school consists of well furnished laboratories for physics, biology and computers.

Each of these laboratories has the most modern equipment and they also have posters on laboratory safety hung on the walls for the children to read and follow. The computer laboratory had some of the most recent versions of computers, each with internet connectivity.

There was also a library stacked with best sellers and reference books on academics. The library was maintained using the dewy system by a librarian. The school laid equal emphasis on academics as well as on co- and extra-curricular activities. The school had an average sized playground shared by the nursery section also because it had colourful swings and slides. The older children however used it for football, basketball and cricket.

The teachers of the nursery section were all Montessori trained and followed the Play way method of imparting education while the teachers for the higher classes specialized in their respective subjects.

If there was one thing that the parents were worried about, it was that the school was only till class ten, which meant that parents with children in class 9 would have to search for another school, to complete their child?s education.

There are many more portal that caters to parents and helps makes school admissions a delightful experience. In-case you are on the look-out for Kennedy Public School from the Nursery Schools in Palam Colony and don?t know where to begin, relax! It does everything for you right from filling up your form, submitting them online and scheduling a date for your child?s interview. OSA also posts Blogs on the Internet on topics related to education and parenting and understands a child?s world perfectly.

Catch .44: Cannes 2011 Review

The Bottom Line

Shoot-'em-up with no survivors or redeeming characters. ?

Venue:

Cannes Film Festival, Market

Director-Screenwriter:

Aaron Harvey

Cast:

Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker, Nikki Reed, Michael Rosenbaum

CANNES - Neo-New Wave gurgles out of the bayou in this elliptical ditty featuring Bruce Willis and Forest Whitaker as a couple of swamp-balls who, basically, perpetrate a Mexican stand-off. ?

Although it gives Willis and Whitaker an off-road chance to show off their character-actor chops, there?s not much to recommend in this cinematic conceit. There?s some fun, cheeky inside stuff ? Bruce Willis wailing ?Respect? ? which might make for hilarity in talent agency screening rooms, but that?s about the most favorable demographic this low-caliber oddity will attract. ??

?

Jolting backwards from the bloody finale, Catch .44 plugs away on the lives of three girlfriends who toil at the local strip joint, but are now packing guns and heading out on I-40 to hi-jack a coke deal. These three are no angels, in part because they work for the nefarious Mel (Willis), a drug-lord and opportunistic snotwad.?

?

As they tool the mean back-roads in their nifty Beemer, the three lasses ?squabble in annoying bad-girl drone. It doesn?t take long for them to meet trouble in the form of a squirrelly murderer (Whitaker) who?s gunned down a state patrolman and shimmied into his uniform.

?

Ricocheting back and forth between the bloody finale and the backstory of each girlie, Catch .44 is a petite amusement. ?Since none of the characters are sympathetic, it?s hard to stay focused or involved in this salacious journey. ?

?

Overall, filmmaker Aaron Harvey?s neo-nouveau narrative framework caves in and we?re left to the film?s performance curiosities.

?

Bruce Willis slinks into his slime-ball role with apt flourish. Sauntering around in his oily bathrobe, swigging bourbon and gorging walnuts, he?s amusing and utterly believable. ?Forest Whitaker hams it up with a crazy backwoods Hispanic speech cadence, which would make him an entertaining party guest. ?Of the bad girls, Nikki Reed triggers sexuality and bad temper in lethal doses.

?

The technical contributions are well-wrought, particularly costume designer Johanna Argan's aptly peculiar threads for Willis.?

Cling On, Bitter Clingers!

I?m going to cling on. I don?t feel particularly bitter, but perhaps my newfound optimism over our generosity toward Egypt will make me a ?better? clinger. And if our payments to them end up coming back to us in the form of heightened threats in the never-ending War On Terror, well, who knows? Guns and religion might both come in handy?.

Saved by the Mel(on)?

A long time ago, like WAY before Facebook, people had to grow their own food, find their own water, and, yes, physically meet their friends to discuss their new clogs. Blocking behaviours that perpetuate your anxiety ? ArticleDiscuss.com

Recognising behaviours that contribute to mental anxiety and stress is the first step in curing yourself of this discomfort. The are three obsessive behaviours, and you may not indulge in all three, but any of them have the power to make your life less happy than it should be. These stresses in your life might have originally been able to be controlled or alleviated by indulging in hobbies or interests such as landscape photography but you might find that your life is overtaking you. So what are these behaviours?

Obsessed negativity is the first, and it is relatively easy to self-diagnose. People with obsessed negativity tend to be generally negative about things that happen in their life. Sometimes it?s just one area, such as work, but it can pervade your entire life, from your family and friends, your personal image, places you go, situations you encounter, politics and more.

Perhaps you find yourself saying things to yourself like ?I can?t do this!? or ?I always do the wrong thing or ?People always do things to deliberately annoy me?, for example. You may be doing this unconsciously, but essentially you have an attitude that inhibits you knowing what it?s like to view life through a positive lens and enjoy the beauty in yourself and people around you! The world looks different with happiness and positive thinking.

Obsessive perfectionism is another trap that people can fall into ? everything has to be perfect, done in a certain way, to a certain standard. You might find yourself saying that you have to ?do things right? or you feel a sense of failure. This constant expectation to achieve almost impossibly high standards will drive your anxiety higher, and you may not even realize it. In fact, it could be contributing to a general feeling of being up-tight.

Obsessive analysis is the third one. You might be obsessed about minute details of processes and procedures, going over them again and again until you are sure you understand it in miniscule detail ? often far more than is required. You may feel the need to repeatedly go over the finer details of the task, repeating the order in your head just to be sure you?ve got it right. You can?t relax is things go wrong!

An excess of analysis robs you of time to enjoy your life. You?re caught up in a loop and you need to break free by reassuring yourself that all is well and undertaking activities that take your mind off it. Understand that not doing the analysis will not compromise your life.

What can you do to help relieve your stress? Identifying these blocking behaviours in your life puts you on the path to recovery. Before you engage a medical consultant first, ask the people you know, love, and trust, ?Am I negative about things??, ?Do I complain a lot??, and ?Am I difficult to be around??

You will need to approach this with an open mind because the truth can hurt, but this is the quickest way of finding out whether others see you differently to how you expect them to see you. The insights you gain can be used to actively change how you deal with life.

Secondly, keep a diary to write down and establish patterns of when you are using blocking behaviours. Even if you are not thrilled with the idea of writing, you can make little entries into a note book or journal each day. The great part is that you?ll begin to see patterns in your behavior that reveal exactly what you?re doing to prevent yourself from curing your anxiety.

Relieving stress can often be accomplished by exercise, such as shooting basketball hoops or exercising at home

How To Handle Being A Widow

When a woman loses her husband who is her soulmate, her love, her friend, the magnitude of the loss does not hit her immediately as she is almost always in denial.

When I lost my husband 10 years ago leaving me 2 months pregnant and with 2 small children, I thought that my whole life had come to an end. I didn't know who to turn to and I expected my friends to understand what I was going through and stop what they were doing to rally around me 24-7.

Well, that was not to be and I came to the sad realization that it was up to me to pick up the pieces of my life and step into the big shoes that my husband had left behind. Slowly, I embraced my new role and grew stronger. The loneliness was incredible but I kept holding on, knowing that God hadn't forgotten me.

Each night seemed darker than the last and it was only the birth of my daughter that finally brought a smile to my lips and joy to my grieving heart. Four years later, as I looked back at the tough times that I had to endure, I realized that I had made it only by the grace of God.

Who would have thought that the friends that I held so dear would turn their backs on me, whispering behind my back that they wanted nothing to do with a widow around their husbands? No longer was I welcome to gatherings that were attended by couples. I increasingly found refuge with my children and threw my weight behind bringing them up in the best possible way.

I proposed that nothing and no one would get me down. I realized that it was up to me to be everything that I was created to be. I adapted the following and now live a wonderful and fulfilling life:

1. I started praying like I had never done before and allowed God to replace my husband.
2. I completely changed my attitude and started finding something to thank God for every day.
3. I accepted that if I was going to be happy, it was up to me and I started finding joy in the smallest things.
4. I refused to feel sorry for myself and started looking for people that I could help.
5. I realised that being a widow is not a life sentence and people will treat you the way that you want to be treated.

I am now a successful woman who motivates others and who finds joy in life. I do not take anything for granted and I thank God who in His infinite mercy has made life so beautiful for me and my three wonderful children.

By: Stephanie Crock

KSTP.com has uncovered new details of legal problems involving nearly half of the Rogers Police Department.

KSTP.com's Cory Kampschoer?reports that in the past year, six of the 14 Rogers Police Officers are involved in either an internal investigation, a legal proceeding, a lawsuit, or have been the subject of disciplinary action.

Several sources tell KSTP.com:

 • Three police officers have filed complaints against the now former police Chief Jeff Luther.
 • Two police officers are under investigation for allegedly violating the fourth amendment of an illegal search and seizure.
 • One officer is suing the city of Rogers for an alleged data privacy violation.
 • Sgt. Joleen Pitts along with Police Chief Jeff Luther were placed on administrative leave in February as they were being investigated on alleged possible corruption charges.?
 • Chief Luther abruptly resigns in a letter to the city council citing disagreements with staff and city administration earlier this month.

City officials say once the internal investigations and lawsuits have been resolved, the city will hire a consultant to do a complete review of the department. Review could result in several options which could include dissolving the police department.

Jay Kolls will have reaction from Rogers tonight at 10 p.m. on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

Alley's Shrinking Waist Thanks To Dancing Diet

1 hour ago | WENN | See recent WENN news ?

Kirstie Alley's stint on U.S. reality show Dancing With The Stars has helped the actress shed the pounds - her waist now measures 38 inches (96.5 centimetres) less than when she made her dancefloor debut in March.

The former Cheers star, who has struggled with weight issues for years, admits she's been shrinking in size as she prepares to battle for the TV title during the finale on Tuesday.

But even the 60 year old was surprised by how much her very first costume on the show had to be altered so she could wear it again for the season's closing episode.

However, she's refusing to reveal exactly how many pounds she's lost on the dancing diet.

She says, "There will be some reveal of that at some point, but I really didn't care. As long as I kept changing and changing and changing, I really didn't care. It was like, keep whittling, whittling, whittling. And the other thing that's really more significant to me - I mean, I love the whittling, I like being skinny - I'm really strong and really agile and it gave me a new life."

She adds to People.com, "I wasn't so hungry when I was dancing. That, coupled with insane amounts of dancing, I'm sure I lost it (weight) faster... I had the energy the whole way through it and that was sort of astonishing."

Alley will go up against actress Chelsea Kane and American football star Hines Ward during Tuesday's finale.

Hayden's Ferry Review Blog: Book Review: Oyster Perpetual

Oyster Perpetual, by Austin LaGrone. Lost Horse Press, 2011. Poetry. Review by Debrah Lechner.

There?s an emotional response that develops when reading Austin LaGrone?s poetry that reminds me of watching Tennessee William?s plays, or reading his best short fiction. At the moment I?m thinking in particular of William?s short story ?Two on a Party?, where the perpetual road trip and the visceral feeling of movement continue even when the characters have stopped.

LaGrone has the same way of catching a moment, quiet or not, while his subjects are already moving on. Whether they are resting, conversing, drinking or simply observing each other, they?re already on the way to somewhere else. The characters he draws aren?t easily jammed into a particular place, attitude, or identity. The result of LaGrone?s finely developed sensibility for continual change in his characters and the landscapes they live in is this?the subjective, objective, passionate, indifferent, loving, mundane, tragic and amusing are all well acquainted with each other, and have no difficulty sharing a room. If difficulties do arise living together in such close quarters, the result is all the more interesting.

The title of the book ?Oyster Perpetual? meant nothing to me. Poets are liable to choose obscure names for their collections that may or may not acquire meaning as you read, so I don?t usually (as we are warned against in aphorism) judge a book by its cover, but this time I had the impulse to Google ?Oyster Perpetual,? and discovered that it is the name of a Rolex watch. Considering the sense of continual movement as manifested in discrete moments that permeates LaGrone?s work, I decided the title was sort of brilliant, if still obscure.

I like to provide a taste of the author?s writing in my reviews. I am a sucker for humor, and although this is not by any means the most profound or lyrical poem in Oyster Perpetual, I have decided to quote it just because I thought it was fun to read. From the poem ?The Apology?:

Even though you are in a private room, it is, at best only visually

private. We can hear Everything. Any noise reduction you can

manage while performing acts of intimacy, use of drugs, or

conversations in general would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Room 8

Dear Room 8, pretend you are at the zoo

or listening to the mating rituals of nomads.

Wish your rendezvous in Vegas last year

was half as mad. Dream in color Room 8,

use your imagination, record it and sell it

back to us on a hot-line. But learn to love it,

live it vicariously, practice biting the pillow

as though to learn just how difficult

silence can be. When the jackhammer

splits the sidewalk you say nothing.

The janitor, with his mop swashing,

and swashing, goes unnoticed.

Need I mention church bells?

Room 8, times like this are rare. Frankly,

last week I was feeling a little bit rusty.

I know the lure of leather boots

is clich?. But such things have significance

or, at least, playfulness.

?So, the boots and the cuffs and the biting

the animal noises and rough talk

are staying until Thursday.

Oyster Perpetual is the winner of the 2010 Idaho Prize for Poetry. Austin LaGrone was born in Louisiana and has been published in multiple literary journals including Hayden?s Ferry Review, Black Warrior Review, Brilliant Corners, Fourteen Hills, Many Mountains Moving, Spoon River Poetry Review and New York Quarterly.

You can find three videos of Austin LaGrone reciting his poetry on this Youtube page. There are also several copies of his poetry in print on the web. Look for his work at any bookseller. At this point, there is one copy of Oyster Perpetual left at Amazon.com here.
