Guest Blogger, Cari Russo, of Cari's Bitch'n Book Reviews |

I first ran across Cari when she reviewed a friend?s book. It was so hilarious, that I started to follow her out of interest. She recently developed a new review site, called Cari?s Bitch?n Book Reviews. ?She doesn?t just review a book, but will tell a story as to why she picked the book.?She adds a?little Italian, fashion advice and opinion on tanning and big hair?to her commentary.?Always lots?of fun. ?You can find her at www.carirusso.blogspot.com

So read on and enjoy Cari?s first guest blogging adventure.

Thanks Lee for the intro. I was flabbergasted when Lee Lopez asked me to guest blog here at The Naked Hero. I?ve never guest blogged anywhere. I just actually started blogging a few months ago, when my roommate urged me to take a big leap into doing it, since I was already leaving reviews on Amazon. I even, now have had a few books sent to me by authors. Will wonders never stop!?

My very smart roommate and BFF suggested I find free blog sites, which was a big plus. I?m a Jersey girl on a beyond tight budget. It?s strangling me. So I?ll jump over hurdles for anything free. I was there, setting up my blog, learning how to navigate all the lingo and started to review. My reviews do reflect my life.?I picks titles that relate to my life.?

I love to bring in my very Jersey family into my reviews, including my Nona, who hasn?t admitted to her senior citizen status, unless she can get a senior discount, than she?s all over it, and will even wrestle a walker away from some poor unsuspecting dude, in hopes of increasing it.

People actually started to follow me. I?m always watching my behind for that reason. It?s got me on the treadmill again. So that?s a good thing. ?And then, Lee asked me to guest blog, because I?m a reader. Oh, by the way I uber luvvvvvvvvvvvvv, the name THE NAKED HERO. Boy do I wish Fireman Frank, (hunk of the month) would be my NAKED HERO!

Digressing? At first I said no, then yes, then maybe, then no, then okay, then why not. What is the worst thing that could happen? Not sure, but if something could go wrong, it would happen to me. I?m the girl who was in a convenience store buying a bottle of water, when it was robbed by my senior prom date! I better shut up before I jinx myself.

So here I am blogging about books, which is my second love. My bird, James T. Parakeet, is my first love. I?m think of getting him a Uhura, so they can have little Spock?s for company.

Still digressing?Today?s world of books is endless. They take you away from the ordinary and involve you in a life, at least for me, outside of Jersey, and the image of Jersey Shores. Eeee! No I don?t tan. I don?t like to look like a?cannoli left in a fryer too long. Besides, I inherited my Irish/Italian mother?s fair skin. I?d look more like an explosion from the sun, with hair to match. But it doesn?t stop my sisters and cousins from supporting the industry.?

The first thing that attracts me to books is the covers. I love covers, especially the new ones. They are the first thing that attracts me. If they are funny, sexy, colorful, and filled with the promise of a great story, I?m there, with the hopes the book delivers. The one thing that does annoy me, is if the cover has nothing to do with what?s inside. I recently reviewed a book, and mentioned the cover. It was a well dressed woman and man in a suit, but it was about a hockey player! Looking at the cover, the reader would have no idea! I was surprised to discover it.

If I really don?t like a book, I don?t review it. I don?t believe in doing that to an author. Besides, I always find something I like about every book. It might be the setting, the hero, or the heroine. The secondary characters can jump out at me, or sometimes the villain or villainess. There is something good in every book, regardless. There are no bad books. There are only books that don?t do something for the individual, but the next person to pick it up, it might give them that spark and a fan is born.

I?ve traveled around the world wide?web, (do wish it was the real world and not the computer one) to read other review sites. I was surprised how many?reviewers were?very cruel. I stop reading at that point. I might even buy the book, because I feel bad for the author. What if it affects their sales!? It?s a tough economy out there. ?Just writing a blog is work. Enjoyable work, but still it takes time. I can only image how much work an author commits to their book, and then to have someone bash it, would be heartbreaking. Not cool.

I?m a big, big reader, and read about two books a week, on a not so busy week. The subway is a great place to read, it keeps me occupied, so I don?t witness too many muggings. Books have always been a big part of my life. As a kid I always had a book to read besides school books. I?d pester my mom, or older brothers to take me to library every week. Now with the Kindle, I?m can download books that are cheaper, like .99cents, (it?s that budget again) and many more. I?m always reading, so to the writers, just keep on writing. I don?t know what I?d do without you since, there isn?t anything on T.V but reruns.

I?ve just recently started writing a occasionally a segment called ?Dear Author?. It?s just a bit of advice, that as a reader, non-writer notices about books. I?m having fun with that, and have gotten some good advice and comments.

Thanks for having me here at the Naked Hero. Think, Firemen Frank of the brave FDNY!

How do you pick a book?
