KSTP.com has uncovered new details of legal problems involving nearly half of the Rogers Police Department.

KSTP.com's Cory Kampschoer?reports that in the past year, six of the 14 Rogers Police Officers are involved in either an internal investigation, a legal proceeding, a lawsuit, or have been the subject of disciplinary action.

Several sources tell KSTP.com:

  • Three police officers have filed complaints against the now former police Chief Jeff Luther.
  • Two police officers are under investigation for allegedly violating the fourth amendment of an illegal search and seizure.
  • One officer is suing the city of Rogers for an alleged data privacy violation.
  • Sgt. Joleen Pitts along with Police Chief Jeff Luther were placed on administrative leave in February as they were being investigated on alleged possible corruption charges.?
  • Chief Luther abruptly resigns in a letter to the city council citing disagreements with staff and city administration earlier this month.

City officials say once the internal investigations and lawsuits have been resolved, the city will hire a consultant to do a complete review of the department. Review could result in several options which could include dissolving the police department.

Jay Kolls will have reaction from Rogers tonight at 10 p.m. on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
