IT WILL DO?
During our setup and programming, I overheard a few people talking about our lighting, and how (in their opinion) ridiculously over the top the entire setup and effort is. " It's only a kids concert, they can't do much anyway, so what's all the fuss about " was the tenor. Well, here's my take: Yes these are "only" kids on stage, and yes they can't dance like professionals yet. But these children dance with all their heart, and give everything they have, 100 percent. They deserve that my team and I match it, and do the same. Yes we are professionals, and our "100%" might seem a bit over the top for a children's performance, but if the kids give their all, so will we. Besides, I simply can't stand the "it will do" approach, if you do something, do it as good as you can, or leave it all together.
COMEBACK ON STUPID COMMENTS
Whenever I post images of dancers, there will always be a few who leave stupid comments like "Gay!". First of all, in many of these images are children, and such comments are (at least in my world) not appropriate. Age aside, for all you machos out there, here's something to think about:
Professional dancers are well trained, have toned bodies, are flexible, elegant and beautiful. The ratio of men to women is about 1:20. In other words, on average every male dancer is surrounded by 20 gorgeous and super fit women. Get it? Joining ballet as a man is not "gay", I'd call it a rather smart move ;)
So, the week is over, now I'm back in my studio, and some new gorgeous beauty shots and portraits will be coming your way soon. Enjoy!
