This article has been viewed 4 times.

Who doesn?t wish they had more time in their day to get everything done? Being a wise manager of your time can help with that problem. When you understand how to properly manage your time you can be more efficient and have more time for the things you want to do like spend time with your family, enjoy your hobbies, or even enroll at an college. These simple tips can help.

The infamous to-do list is one of the main tools of successful time management. It can help you keep on task. When you make a daily, weekly and monthly goals list you can keep track of all your tasks. Start with those that are the most important. Then add other jobs in as needed. Cross off the things you get done and move the things you don?t to the next day?s list of jobs. Of course, sticking to the list is going to be crucial.

Another helpful tool can be to create a daily or weekly schedule with time separated into blocks. Schedule different projects into half hour or hour blocks and then focus on those things alone. It can be anything from a half hour of checking email to an hour devoted to cleaning out your closet. When your time is up then move onto the next project. Use a timer if you need too.

Utilize small blocks of time that are normally wasted like when you are sitting in the doctor?s office. One handy way to take advantage of these times is to carry portable materials with you that allow you to do things like address envelopes or plan your schedule. Even carrying reading material with you to keep up with your career is a good idea as you can always read while stuck in traffic even if you cannot do anything else.

Delegation is another successful key to time management. If you work at home or are a stay at home mom learn to put tools to work like the timer on your coffee pot or dinner in the crock pot. Outsourcing for business people, whether you work at an office or from home, can save you tons of time. Don?t waste time doing the small things, or even big ones, that others can do for you. You may have to pay out a little extra but what you will save in time and gain in productivity will be worth it.

Successful time management isn?t some elusive thing that is hard to nail down. It simply takes commitment and careful planning. When you utilize the tips above you will find you get more done and have more time to spend doing what you enjoy.
